Cranio-Sacral Therapy

Cranio-sacral therapy is an effective and gentle form of complementary treatment which can diminish or alleviate stress-related imbalances in the body.

Through cranio-sacral therapy, entrapped or impinged nerves can be freed, blood flow to the brain may increase resulting in improved concentration and the central nervous system will come to function more efficiently, generally creating a sense of calm and wellbeing after a treatment, and often alleviating pain in the head, neck, shoulders and back.

During a treatment the patient lies on his back on a special (comfortable) treatment table while the gentlest pressure is applied at specific places on the head, neck and sacrum. Treatment is holistic. The patient experiences a deep and pleasant state of relaxation. Tension in the joints and sutures between bones are loosened, membranes relax, nerve function improves, and blood and cerebrospinal fluid circulate more freely.

I combine cranio-sacral therapy with neuromuscular treatment for shoulder, neck and back problems. I always choose the optimal combination of techniques for the condition of my client.

The European cranio-sacral therapy which I use most is based on the osteopathy and etiopathy (a system of manipulative medicine) used by Dr. Alain Gehin, professor at the European College of Etiopathy in Geneva, Switzerland. Dr. Gehin has integrated cranial manipulation techniques from the medical traditions of Asia, Europe, Oceania, and the United States.

Studies have shown that cranio-sacral therapy may provide symptomatic relief for many chronic diseases and conditions.

There are no known side effects.

Most of my clients who suffered from whiplash symptoms came to me after their primary care physicians recommendations, or directly from insurance companies who knew of the benefits of cranio-sacral therapy. Recently cranio-sacral therapy has begun to be used in hospitals in Denmark with excellent results in order to lessen the side effects of chemotherapy.

An adult session generally lasts about 75 minutes. The cost is $85 plus tax unless otherwise agreed. A session for a child under age 14 generally lasts 1/2 hour and costs $40 plus tax.

Headache and whiplash sufferers usually experience relief from their symptoms with this type of cranio-sacral therapy.

Many of my clients are referred by their medical doctors and/or acquaintances for specifically these conditions.

I take no-fault insurance with a prescription from an MD.
